Students at Port Salerno Elementary School appeared captivated at the life cycle of a butterfly. Especially as it occurred in front of their eyes.
SRO Deputy Crystal Duncombe got a special opportunity to interact with the kids at Port Salerno Elementary School as they released the butterflies, that over time, they watched transform from a caterpillar. PSE teacher, Ms. Friberg , initiated the project and worked with her class to collect caterpillars which were raised on milkweed. The project was done in a special enclosed net so students could watch the process from the hatching of the caterpillar to its incredible transformation, and finally the release. Deputy Duncombe said the students were captivated at the process and clearly moved by the beauty of the transformation. A special thank you to Ms. Friberg for creating this experience for the students, and us all to see.
