The Rebate

We are enjoying our new water heater, and soon - I hope - will enjoy getting two sizable rebates. One will come from our natural gas company and the other one will come from the manufacturer.

I hate rebates. Drop the price initially instead of forcing me to jump through multiple hoops in order to get money back.

That being said, I tediously went through the many steps required. I had to make two calls in order to get necessary information, and spent at least an hour preparing two forms and copying the required contract and invoice to send in to both companies.

Dotting every "i" and crossing every "t", I completed the task and took the bulky envelopes to the post office for mailing. Even though I asked Bonnie to check my work, there was a nagging feeling that I missed something, thereby nullifying the rebate offers. Time will tell.

I thought about this rebate condition, and realized that I give rebates regularly. I smile at people, even if they don't smile at me. I offer gestures of kindness, even when none are sent my way.

I don't have requirements for giving out such rebates. They are free, and no box tops or UPC labels are needed in order to validate these.

Think about what you have to offer; you may discover that you, also, can give out positive rebates to those around you. It's a pretty good way to live.

Blessings and peace,
