Whipping Childhood Cancer – I am about to publish a book on the 6th of December called "she will always carry on" talking abo...
The cancer itself appeared over night and began to stick out of my groin, i was a generally healthy and fit person before cancer.
Within the first three months my tumour which was the size of tennis ball was reduced by half.
My chemotherapy regime was a very high risk protocol, I had vincristine, doxorubicin, ifosphimite , etopiside, cyclophosphamide, irinotican and VAC.
Radiation destroyed me, I lost nearly 10% of my body fat with severe burns all over my pelvis and bottom half of my body. I stopped eating nearly altogether for almost two months at one time.
I finished treatment on the 12th of October and will have regular scans. My relapse rate is still very high, but I well and truly do not believe that will not happen. Through the power of the mind and not giving up pushed me through to today and will for the rest of my life.
I still suffer from many after effects and currently have really bad chemo brain and memory loss. Both vincristine and radiation have destroyed parts of my left leg and foot and I still struggle to walk properly, that will be a long process of healing and constant walking/therapy.
I will most likely never have my own kids...
I have suffered many complications from both radiation and chemotherapy throughout the entirety of my treatment.
I hope to dedicate my life one day to helping young people, children and their families in the fight against cancer. I hope to one day start a foundation specific to all childhood cancers with each donation going straight to the research and helping families in such a dire time of need. I am about to publish a book on the 6th of December called "she will always carry on" talking about the real effects, relationship breakdown, power of the mind/spiritual healing and a chapter dedicated to my mum, brother and best friend specific to their point of view and how they dealt with it, and my journey of overcoming the odds of cancer and never giving up.
I currently talk at local schools and events about the reality of childhood cancer, my journey and raising awareness!
